Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu departs to Beijing, Peoples Republic of China to participate in the opening ceremony of Inaugural Board of Governors meeting and Inaugural board of Directors meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) as the Governor to the AIIB from Maldives.
The meetings are to be held from the 15th January 2016 to 19th of this month. In addition to the Minister, the delegation from Maldives also includes Minister of State for Finance and Treasury Mr. Ahmed Munawar, Senior Financial Analyst of Ministry of Finance and Treasury, Mr. Mohamed Haisham.
AIIB was an initiative of the Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to promote inter connectivity and economic integration in the region and cooperate with existing multilateral development banks.
In this visit Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will be meeting with the Presidents of, China Communications and Construction Company Ltd, CCCC Second Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. and CCCC Highway Consultants Company Ltd. to talk about the implementation of China-Maldives Friendship Bridge which is now underway.
