Jailam murder case hearing cancelled

The first hearing in the trial regarding the murder of Jailam Ahmed Shakir, scheduled for 1:00 p.m. today, has been cancelled.
Jailam was died after being stabbed at around 10:00 p.m. on 21 February 2015.
Criminal Court Spokesperson Ahmed Mohamed Manik said that the hearing was cancelled because the presiding judge, Judge Saeed Ibrahim, is on sick leave.
The state has pressed charges against Ismail Aneeg, Naseeb Saeed, and Ali Irfan in relation to Jailam’s murder.
The case filed by the State states that Jailam was stabbed by a fourth person, who accompanied the three aforementioned individuals to confront Jailam on 21 February 2015.
The fourth suspect is Mohamed Humaid, who is reported to have left the country. Efforts to locate him include the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice.
The State has claimed that Ismail Aneeg used his fists and feet to assault Jailam while he was being stabbed by Humaid.
Aneeg has been charged with murder using a sharp object, under Article 5 (b) and (c) of the Law on Prohibiting Threatening and Possession of Dangerous Weapons and Sharp Objects.
Naseeb Saeed and Ali Irfan have been accused of taking the people who attacked Jailam on their motorcycles to the location of the attack, and helping them hide after the attack. They have been charged with participation in murder using a sharp object, under Article 5 (e) and (f) of the Law on Prohibiting Threatening and Possession of Dangerous Weapons and Sharp Objects.
