A foreign national has been arrested in Hulhumale' with multiple bottles of suspected liquor.
Police identified the suspect as 25‑year‑old Bangladeshi citizen Mehdi Hassan Rana. He was taken into custody on Sunday while officers were patrolling Phase I of Hulhumale'.
According to police, officers stopped and searched him, recovering 26 bottles of suspected liquor, each containing 500 ml, from his bag.
He was later taken before the court for a remand hearing and was ordered to be held in custody for 20 days.
Police said the case is under investigation. Authorities have also noted a rise in the number of foreigners involved in the illegal liquor trade.crime
