President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom has scheduled to visit the southernmost atoll of the Maldives, Addu, this Tuesday to inaugurate the new runway and seaplane base of Gan International Airport.
The airport was expanded and half of the area is being used since the end of last year. This project was carried out by Højgaard, Denmark.
The newly built seaplane base was constructed by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), which will also be in charge of base operations.
Meanwhile, the housing ministry is preparing to hold a mass ceremony at in Feydhoo ward of Addu City following President Yameen’s visit.
According to Mihaaru’s sources, President Yameen will be addressing the public during this ceremony and will impart information on ongoing projects, such as Addu City’s Equatorial Convention Center (ECC)’s transformation into a 100 bed hospital.
