Maldivian govt. condemns terrorist attack at Bondi Beach

The Government of Maldives has strongly condemned the terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Australia on Sunday, which claimed the lives of 16 people, including one of the assailants. 
Maldivian Foreign Ministry, via a statement on Sunday, stressed that such cowardly and heinous acts, which have claimed the lives of innocent people, have no place in any society.
The Ministry said Maldives extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a swift and full recovery to those injured. It added that the thoughts and prayers of the Maldivian people are with the people and the Government of Australia during this difficult time.
The statement further said that the Government and the people of the Maldives stand in solidarity with Australia in this period of grief and reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The shooting in Sydney’s Bondi Beach claimed the lives of 16 people in total – 15 victims and one of the assailants – and about 40 others were injured
Australian Police, on Monday, identified the attackers as a 50-year-old man and his 24-year-old son. The father was killed at the scene, while the son remains in critical but stable condition in the hospital. The older suspect was reported to be a licensed firearms holder with six registered weapons.
According to the Police, the attack targeted Jewish Australians as hundreds gathered to celebrate the first day of Hanukkah.
