President engages in dialogue with L. Gan Island Council, WDC, and institutional heads on development priorities

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu engaged in discussions with the L. Gan Island Council, Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions on matters related to the island’s development priorities, as part of his ongoing tour of Hadhdhunmathi.
The meeting, held at the Gan Island Council Secretariat, focused on a range of issues integral to the island’s continued progress. Council members underscored the need to address utility service challenges and to strengthen resources at the Gan Regional Hospital, including the recruitment of a speech therapist and the provision of ambulance services.
The Council further proposed that the harbour expansion project include the development of a yacht marina and the dredging of a channel on the seaward side of the island to enhance maritime access. Additionally, the Council requested the implementation of shore protection measures, while representatives from local schools outlined specific institutional needs.
President Dr Muizzu assured that all concerns raised would be given due consideration. The President’s delegation, comprising Cabinet ministers and heads of State-Owned Enterprises, also provided updates on ongoing development projects on the island.
