MIRA: The earnings through ADF increased this year

The earnings through the Airport Development Fund (ADF) have increased by 8.2% this January compared to January last year.
According to a statement released by the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), last year saw earnings of MVR55 million, while this year saw the earnings increase 8.2%, totaling in around MVR59 million.
The statistics released by MIRA also revealed that last year saw earnings of USD3.5 million, which increased to USD3.8 million.
The ADF was established to collect funds for the Sovereign Development Fund (SDF), which was created to repay the loan taken on by the state to the develop the Velana International Airport (VIA).
The collecting process for the ADF was put into place in May 2017 and was expected to earn the state a total of MVR575 million to date. However, due to the emigration fee being reduced from USD25 to USD12 for locals, the earnings came up to only MVR329.9 million.
