Police Custodial Department has revealed that the procedures on family visitation and lawyer visitations had been changed.
Police Media Official Ismail Ali said that the new rules will be observed for those who are under detention for over seven days. However, with the permission of the investigative officer, arrangements can be made for visitation during this period. Visits can be arranged once every 15 days lasting one hour per visit.
Under the new procedures, two visits per week can be arranged on the request of either the arrested or the lawyer. The visits can be held on Friday or public holidays from 9am to 10pm for 90 minutes each.
Custodial Department’s Head Superintendent of Police Ahmed Nafiz said that the new procedures will allow additional visits with the families.
Nafiz added that previously there were no time limits on the visitation times. He said that with the new changes, the procedures will be strengthened.
