A document has been leaked، which claims that former president Mohamed Nasheed، who has been sentenced to 13 years in prison، has been freed from 09:00 on 24 July 2015.
The document has the letterhead، stamp and the signature of Maldives Correctional Services (MCS).
Though the document do not have a name of any personnel who signed on behalf of MCS، it had the name، signature and fingerprint of Mohamed Nasheed.

The document was drafted as a declaration to be signed by former president Mohamed Nasheed. The declaration says، “I fully understand I have been transferred for home detention permanently from 19 July 2015.”
In addition، the declaration also states that Nasheed was invited to the functions held on Independence Golden Jubilee celebrations، as well as، a ‘deal’ with the government in the ‘upcoming votes’.
MCS had previously stated that they have given any document or a declaration to Nasheed which states he has been transferred to home detention permanently.
Former President has been taken back to Maafushi Prison، after two months in home detention، and will be kept there for the remainder of his sentence، the correctional services said.
