Commissioner of Police, Hussein Waheed has said that a shadow has been cast on the case of the missing journalist Ridwan Abdulla because of the thoughtlessness of some people while Maldives Police Service has been investigating the case.
In an interview to Miadhu Daily, Commissioner Hussein Waheed said that the Police has been working on the case without any break from the time the case was reported.
He said that the thoughtlessness of some people interfered with the investigation which he said is the same as restarting the investigation.
The commissioner said that this does not mean that the Police will close the case. He said that the Police will investigate the case until Ridwan is found and those behind his disappearance are brought to justice.
In addition to this, the commissioner noted that many spread false reports regarding these major cases under investigation by the Police.
“Previously in the case of Dr. Afrasheem it was claimed that Humaam is no the murderer. However the court has issued verdict against him. An innocent will not be declared guilty in the court,” he said.
Meanwhile, Maldivian Democracy Network (MDN) published a report regarding their own investigation into the case of the missing journalist exposing personal information of some individuals whom they allege to be involved in Ridwan’s disappearance. Maldives Police Service stated that the report is based on conjecture and it was published to achieve some political agendas.
