Criminal court has scheduled a hearing tomorrow to pronounce a sentence on Ahmed Adeeb regarding the IED case.
The state is charging him under anti-terror laws for planting an IED on the presidential launch Finifenma. Criminal Court has scheduled the hearing at 1:00 pm tomorrow. A bomb exploded on the launch on 28th September 2015 while President and senior officials of the government were travelling on it from Hulhule’ to Male’.
The state prosecutors have said that Adeeb planted the IED on Finifenma on 27th September. Witnesses said that Adeeb and his bodyguard stayed alone in the salon area of the launch. Adeeb was given an hour to present defense witnesses. However he was unable to do so and the judge decided not to give anymore chance to Adeeb.
While Adeeb is being sentenced tomorrow for this case، Adeeb was sentenced to 10 years yesterday for illegal possession of firearms.
