The hearing of former President Mohamed Nasheed has been tabled on Saturday evening at the Criminal Court.
Former President and the MDP leader Mohamed Nasheed is currently being tried for his accused crime of detaining and isolating the Criminal Court Chief Judge Abdulla Mohamed (Abdulla Ghazy) in 2012.
The hearing is scheduled at 19:00 on Saturday evening.
Meanwhile، the State had presented witnesses who had testified against Nasheed in the previous hearings held at the Criminal Court.
During the last hearing held on Thursday night، Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam had testified against Nasheed and provided the court with evidence. Shiyam revealed in court that Nasheed had said that he will ‘take full responsibility of detaining the judge’ in a meeting with MNDF officers from Colonel and higher ranks، after isolating the judge.
If the court find Nasheed guilty of his accused crimes، Nasheed might face a 15 years jail time، under the Prevention of Terrorism Act of Maldives.
