The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed that the previously announced decision to suspend on-arrival visa issuance for travellers to Bangladesh has been annulled.
The Ministry said the clarification follows an earlier travel advisory issued to Maldivians planning to travel to Bangladesh during the period surrounding the country’s parliamentary election scheduled for 12 February.
The earlier advisory had stated that Bangladesh would pause on-arrival visa issuance from 15 January to 15 February as part of heightened security measures ahead of the election. However, the Ministry has now confirmed that this decision has been annulled. The ministry said Maldivian travellers may continue to follow existing visa arrangements when travelling to Bangladesh.
