President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended greetings to the President of China Xi Jinping, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang and the people of China on the occasion of Spring Festival and Chinese New Year.
The President sent separate letters to the two leaders, the President's Office website states, in which he reaffirmed Maldives' commitment towards the One China Principle and emphasized the importance of strengthening Maldives-China ties.

"As we welcome the new year, I am confident that our strong ties will be transformed to bring greater benefits to both our nations," he wrote in a post on social media X.
Maldives and China established diplomatic relations on 14 October 1972.
