NDA staff accused of supplying drugs to rehab patients gets 15-day remand

The staff from National Drug Agency (NDA), who was arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs to patients undergoing rehabilitation through the Agency, has been remanded in custody for 15 days.
Mohamed Faseeh, 51, Florida, S. Feydhoo, who is employed by NDA as a peer mentor, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of supplying drugs and maintaining unethical ties with patients undergoing rehabilitation through NDA.
The Police, on Thursday, said the case was submitted to the authority by NDA on November 4th. The authority added that Faseeh was arrested under a court order.
In an update on Friday, the Police said Faseeh was remanded in custody for 15 days upon presentation before the court for a remand hearing. 
The case is under further investigation by the Police.
While drug abuse remains one of the most prevalent social issues in the Maldives, there have been cases of drug abuse at NDA’s rehabilitation centers. According to the agency, NDA routinely conducts inspections to guarantee that treatment centers are secure and do not contain drugs or other prohibited items.
