One of the men injured in a serious road accident in Fuvahmulah on Friday has been flown off to Sri Lanka for further treatment.
Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) media official said the hospital was treating two men injured in the Fuvahmulah accident and among them, 38-year-old Abdul Hannan was flown to Sri Lanka last night.
The official said Abdul Hannan was transported inside a ventilator, The family has requested that details of his injuries be kept confidential, the official said.
Mohamed Ismail, in-charge of Fuvahmulah atoll hospital said Abdul Hannan had severe injuries in his left leg and right side of his face.
“There were injuries to his left leg, with a fracture below the knee and also some injuries to his head. Damages to his scull near the right ear had caused a degree of brain haemorrhage,” Mohamed Ismail said.
Police said in a statement on Saturday that they received a report around 10:30 p.m. on Friday night of an accident involving two motorcycles in Mohamed Jamaaluddeen Naibu Thutthu road in Dhoodigamu ward.
A young man, 27-year-old Ahmed Jaleel, died from injuries received shortly after the accident.
