Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer have said that it is the highest priority of Maldives to provide safety and security for the tourists who visit Maldives.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of counter terrorism workshop organized by Maldivian police and British police, the minister said that even though Maldives has not faced any serious cases of terrorism, even Maldives should be ready since all the countries in the world are prone to terrorist attacks.
The minister said that a country like Maldives which is so dependent on tourism will suffer a lot of damage an act of terror were to happen in the Maldives. He said that such damages will be irrecoverable. “Hence we should ways be ready for something like that. Authorities should coordinate and exchange information” said the minister.
Moosa Zameer thanked the British government for their role in ensuring safety and security of Maldives.
