MALE, September 11 (HNS) – Police have arrested and taken to Criminal Court two persons, who were earlier sentenced to life imprisonment, in a drug related case. The court declined to provide the identities of the convicts but said one was sentenced to life imprisonment on January 30, 2007 for drug abuse and possessing illegal drugs for trade. The person was also sentenced on May 12, 2009 to six months in prison for participating in an unlawful gathering with a weapon, the court added. The Criminal Court said the other person was sentenced in 1999 to six years in prison for drug abuse and to life imprisonment in 2002 for drug abuse and trade. The person was handed another 12-year prison sentence in 2005 for drug abuse and possessing drugs for trade, the court said.
