Maafannu MP Abdulla Rifaau has been elected as a youth parliamentarian at the world organisation of parliaments, Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
IPU's Forum of Young Parliamentarians consist of eight members. Rifaau was in the race with MPs from Iran and Mongolia. He was elected as a youth parliamentarian with 12 out of 18 votes. He will remain a member of the forum for a term of two years.
Galolhu-South MP Ahmed Mahloof and Meedhoo MP Rozaina Adam had also run for youth parliamentarian last year.
