High Court has rejected a case submitted by former Gender and Human Rights Minister Fathimath Dhiyana Saeed asking to declare that the transfer of power from former President Mohamed Nasheed’s government to the current government had transpired against laws of the state.
Sun has come to know that High Court rejected the case last Sunday, reasoning that the case lies beyond was beyond the court's jurisdiction.
The case was submitted to the court last Thursday by Dhiyana along with two other people. The case asked the court to declare that former President Mohamed Nasheed’s resignation on the February of last year was made under duress and also to declare that the change of government was illegitimate.
Dhiyana told Sun that she had listed 35 witnesses and planned to submit a large amount of evidence, including video footage, to prove her case.
