BML signs MoU with HDC to operate City Bike Project

Bank of Maldives (BML) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to implement and operate a “city bike rental project” in the satellite town of Hulhumale’.
The initiative aims to station 300 rental bikes in Hulhumale’ which will be made available for the usage of public to rent and ride across the island at a low cost.
Moreover, under the project, multiple docking stations will be available in “strategic locations to provide adequate parking spaces for the bikes.”
The rental system for this initiative will be equipped with digital payment capabilities.
BML will be funding the project and will be operating in partnership with HDC.
CEO and Managing Director of BML, commenting on the initiative said “we look forward to implementing this project which will be the first of its kind bike rental program available for residents and visitors in Hulhumale’. In addition to being a clean and environmentally friendly means of transport, bicycles are a part of living a healthy lifestyle.”
Furthermore, the bank’s frontman made the announcement coinciding with World Bicycle Day for 2021.
