Chinese President Xi Jinping to conduct a State Visit to the ‎Maldives

The President of the People’s Republic of China، H.E. Xi Jinping on Sunday will arrive for his State Visit ‎to the Maldives، on the invitation of President Abdulla Yameen ‎Abdul Gayoom. ‎
President Xi will be accompanied during the State Visit by First Lady Madam Peng Liyuana and senior ‎delegation of Chinese Government officials.‎
During his stay in the Maldives، President Xi will be officially ‎meeting President Yameen one-on-one. The two leaders will chair Official ‎Talks between high level delegations of the respective countries.‎
The statement by President’s Office says that a number of bilateral ‎agreements on advancing developmental corporation in various identified ‎fields will be signed during the visit.
The statement added “Furthermore، two development projects in the Maldives that are ‎funded by the Chinese Government and implemented by Chinese ‎corporations will also be launched jointly by the two presidents.” ‎
In addition to the official meeting between the two Heads of State، ‎President Xi will also be meeting with Former President، H. E. Maumoon ‎Abdul Gayoom and the Speaker of the People’s Majlis، Hon. Abdulla ‎Maseeh Mohamed.‎
The invitation for President Xi to visit the Maldives was extended ‎at the Official Talks held in Nanjing، China، during President Yameen’s ‎official visit to the country last month.‎
President Yameen extended an invitation to visit the Maldives to Xi Jinping during official talks held in Nanjing last month.
A 200-strong delegation، including representatives from major Chinese companies، is expected to accompany the Chinese president.
Speaking at a Progressive Party of Maldives event on Thursday، President Yameen reportedly said that the imminent visit of one of the most influential world leaders was an honour for the Maldives.
President Xi will be the first Chinese Head of State to conduct a ‎state visit to the Maldives.‎
