Maldives is an influential country in matters of international civil aviation: Ibrahim Faisal

Chairman of Maldives Civil Aviation Authority, Ibrahim Faisal have said that even though Maldives is small, Maldives is influential in matters of international civil aviation.
Speaking at a ceremony held tonight to mark international civil aviation day, Faisal said that during civil aviation conferences abroad countries like Singapore and China consult with Maldives often. “they are very keen to find out what Maldives comments on the matter.”
Faisal said that a small country like Maldives gets this much recognition at an international level because of the solid civil aviation policies in Maldives and that they will continue to improve and strengthen such policies. Faisal said that since Maldives joined ICAO 42 years ago, various civil aviation related works were being done in Maldives and it was a high priority to strengthen the policies. He said that today we are experiencing the benefits of those policies.
“Today there are government owned airlines and private airlines. There are state owned airports and private airports as well. Sea plane services are given. Soon helicopter services will be given as well” said Faisal.
Faisal said that civil aviation industry is a business and it can be developed by making money. “ Today we have a president who knows that. President Yameen was a trade minister. He managed Island Aviation. With that experience he is developing the civil aviation industry of Maldives. He played a vital role in the parliament to pass the civil aviation bill” said Faisal.
Faisal thanked everyone who works in the civil aviation industry for their hard work.
