Indian Woman Deported for Prostitution in Maldives

Maldives Immigration has apprehended an Indian woman involved in prostitution along with a Nepali man working as her agent.
In a post by the institution, it was stated that the operation was conducted on January 30 in collaboration with the police to track down foreigners engaged in illegal sex work in the Maldives.
As a result of the operation, both individuals were taken into custody. After investigating the case, the woman was deported, and Immigration is in the process of deporting the male agent as well.
This follows a series of similar cases, including the recent arrest of a group of Vietnamese individuals involved in widespread prostitution. In those operations, four Vietnamese women and a male agent were detained.
Additionally, Immigration’s ongoing efforts have led to the apprehension of nine foreigners last month, with similar cases reported in December and earlier months.
