President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Male’ on Tuesday after concluding a visit to the United Kingdom to participate in the High-Level Briefing on Private Capital Mobilisation hosted by His Majesty King Charles III and organised by the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI).
At the invitation of the King, the visit brought together heads of MDBs and major financial institutions to discuss mobilising private capital for sustainable development and global climate goals.
President Dr Muizzu used the forum to advance discussions on debt-for-climate and debt-for-nature initiatives, expand green-finance partnerships, and improve climate-finance access for SIDS. He emphasized the Maldives’ urgent financing needs and outlined ways to enhance cooperation to attract private investment for climate-resilient growth.
The visit strengthened the Maldives’ engagement with key partners and bolstered its advocacy for equitable and accessible sustainable finance.
