BML holds special programmes about scam, fraud for senior citizens

Bank of Maldives, on Thursday, held special programmes for senior citizens in atolls across Maldives, to raise awareness on scams and frauds as well as the financial sector in general.
The programmes, held on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, were held in Lhaviyani Atoll's Naifaru, Shaviyani Atoll's Funadhoo, Alif Alif Atoll's Rasdhoo, Thaa Atoll's Guraidhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll's Thinadhoo, and Seenu Atoll's Hulhumeedhoo.
According to BML, the participants were informed on using online banking safely, as well as being vigilant of scammers using the names of different companies and institutions to collect card details.
BML also stated that ease of access granted by the investments in internet, mobile and self-serving banking technology were also discussed with the participants.
The programmes, which were in adherence to the Health Protection Agency (HPA)'s safety guidelines, were attended by 300 senior citizens.
