President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Sunday night returned from an unofficial visit to Sri Lanka, for which he left last Thursday, 3rd January.
The details of the president’s visit have not been revealed, although local media outlets have reported that he had visited relatives residing in Sri Lanka.
Prior to the visit, President Solih met with Sri Lankan ambassador to the Maldives, retired Major General B.R.W.M.R.A.B Thoradeniya.
At the meeting, Ambassador Thoradeniya had spoken about the large Sri Lankan expatriate community living in the Maldives; who fill numerous teaching jobs in public schools and also work in the service industry.
