BML announce new limits on credit, debit cards for foreign transactions

Bank of Maldives (BML) announces new card limits on their credit and debit cards for Maldivians living abroad.
Moreover, in the statement by the bank new card limits for foreign transactions note a bump in order to support locals living abroad.
As such, the new limits effective from 15 September 2020, is at USD250 per month per card.
Furthermore the effect spans across all BML debit and credit cards for use on foreign transactions.
On the other hand, in a bid to provide more support for Maldivians living overseas, the bank increased the limit to USD750 per month.
The limits are “applicable for customers using cards linked to MVR accounts for foreign transactions.”
Meanwhile, customers using Dollar accounts for their BML debit cards can continue transactions within current limits.
Additionally, the bank will support all medical and education payments through cards with temporary changes to the limits.
Customers may submit supporting documents via the bank’s Internet Banking portal for approval.
BML further notes the change will not impact 95% of its customers, adding that this is a temporary measure taken “to manage within the current environment.”
Moreover, the bank confirms the changes will revert back when situation allows.
