Ahmed Thaufeeg (Topy) has called the government not to oppress those who serve the people and instead to encourage them.
Speaking at a gathering held last night by the opposition at Kunooz Topy said that there is no island or household in Maldives that has not received assistance from Qasim Ibrahim. He said that Qasim even assists in public works projects of many islands. He also noted that Qasim spends on his own on the healthcare of many people.
In addition, Thaufeeg said that it was Qasim Ibrahim who first developed water villas in Maldives and revolutionized the tourism industry of Maldives. Thaufeeg said that there are few people like Qasim in every country and such people should be encouraged to do more. He said that however, today Qasim is being oppressed by the government and that is sad.
Thaufeeg said that rulers should have compassion and there should not be enviers in politics but rivals. Hence, he said that it is not acceptable to put rivals in jail and that is not a compassionate act. Thaufeeg called the government to be just and compassionate.
