International football federation FIFA has suspended Kuwait Football Association.
According to reports، FIFA took the action of suspending the main football body of Kuwait due to the high government influence on the department.
FIFA has suspended Kuwait’s Football Association after giving the country a time period to amend the constitution in order to provide freedom and independence for football governing bodies and associations. FIFA gave had given the time period back in September to bring about the changes however، the country had not complied to the requests and has passed due which was on 15th of the current month.
While FIFA had imposed a suspension on Kuwait، the federation has extended the deadline to amend the constitution in accordance to their request to provide an independent football governing body. Now the deadline has been moved to 27th October. Though FIFA had not specified the consequences should Kuwait fail to comply to their request before due، FIFA had stated that they will relieve the suspension if Kuwait goes through with the request.
The suspension has resulted in Kuwait’s national team getting pulled off from regional competitions، while FIFA had ceased financial assistance to the country’s Football Association.
