It is of utter importance that all the political parties should collaborate to resolve the political disputes and bring stability to the Maldives، says the newly accredited British High Commissioner to the Maldives and Sri Lanka، James Dauris.
In an exclusive interview with “Vaguthu”، James noted that it is important for the incumbent and the opposition to hold dialogue and put forth bringing balance to the nation.
He further noted that the opposition should honour the Government’s invitation and consider the nation’s harmony.
Highlighting the meeting with President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Monday، James stated that he held discussions with the President on the issues pertaining to the political arena of the Maldives، and that he had urged the President to resolve the political disputes and to respect the virtues of democracy.
In addition، James stated that on Monday he held meetings with the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)، Jumhooree Party (JP) and Adhaalath Party (AP) and emphasized on the importance of partaking in the political dialogue with the government.
