The contingent from Maldives participating in the upcoming Commonwealth Youth Games has departed last night.
Maldives is expected to compete in swimming in athletics – track and field events – categories in the competition، while the swimming team consists of the number one swimmer from Maldives Mr. Nishwan Ibrahim as well as Mr. Mohamed Mu’uthasim Adnan and Ms. Mariya Mohamed Rishwan.
The athletics team representing Maldives consists of Mr. Ibrahim Afshan Ali (Appi)، Mr. Ali Sham and Ms. Khadheeja Ahmed.
The Chief dé Mission from the Maldivian contingent is former sprinter and an incumbent athletics coach، Ms Yaznee Nasheeda (Yazoo).
Commonwealth Youth Games will be kicking-off in coming Saturday at the nation of Samoa. The games which kicks of from Saturday will last until 11th September، while more than 1000 athletes from various parts of the globe will be competing in the events.
