Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon has stated that Ambassadors to different nations are not shifted to hide their dealings.
Speaking to press today, Foreign Minister Dunya said that sending Ambassadors was part of the Ministry mandate and not something done to hide the said individuals.
Her statements came amid the opposition’s criticism of the Government decision to transfer Foreign Secretary Dr. Ali Naseer to UN Ambassador. The opposition had alleged that this was part of the government’s agenda to hide criminals.
Dr. Ali Naseer said that representing the nation on an official platform is not hiding, adding that the responsibility of the Ambassadors was to promote Maldivian principles and policies on an international platform.
Opposition also had alleged that MMA Governor Dr. Azeema Adam was also attempting to leave the nation. Responding to the allegations, Dr. Azeema sad that she had not carried out any action that warranted her escape from the country.
