MDP ousts Reeko Moosa from the party

Deputy Speaker of People’s Majlis and MP for Hulhuhenveyru Constituency Moosa Manik (Reeko Moosa) has been expelled from Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Reeko Moosa، also the former Chairperson of MDP was expelled from the party following the decision of MDP’s Disciplinary Committee due to his no-show during the Majlis voting of the dismissal of two Supreme Court Judges.
The Disciplinary Committee of MDP has previously stated that Reeko Moosa، along with five other party members have violated the Party’s enforced whip-line to oppose the dismissal of two Supreme Court Judges، former Chief Justice Uz. Ahmed Faiz Hussain and Uz. Muthasim Adnan.
According to the Chair of MDP Disciplinary Committee and Party’s Vice President Mohamed Shifaz said Moosa was removed from Party’s membership as he repeatedly violated party’s enforced whip-line.
He further said، no discrimination was used to oust Moosa، and the action taken against him was according to the rules of the party، as Moosa has violated principals of the party and the party’s enforced whip-line.
Moosa was removed from MDP membership while he has been repeatedly criticizing Mohamed Nasheed، former President، and party’s leadership. He has also been announcing his candidacy to MDP primaries for 2018 Presidential Election.
