Microsoft leaves no spot untouched، in the technology world، as the tech empire is set to give Siri a run for money (more like Apple).
Reports have confirmed firmly that Microsoft-owned voice assistant running on Windows-powered devices will be soon coming out on other operating platforms.
This roll out is expected to go simultaneously along with the company’s new Windows 10 operating system which will get officially released later this year، with an update to the voice-assistant application as well.
According to Reuters، citing people claiming to have inside knowledge of the company’s plans regarding launching Cortana on other platforms، which will be a standalone app in Google’s Play Store and Apple App store available for download، allowing iOS and Android to reap the good benefits of the leading voice-assistant software in the technological world of smartphones.
In the meantime، reports also confirm that Microsoft is currently working on adding more feature into the already top-notch voice assistant، by drawing research from a project titled “Einstein”. “This kind of technology، which can read and understand email، will play a central role in the next rollout of Cortana، which we are working on now for the fall time frame،” Reuters report، quoting Microsoft Research managing director، Eric Horvitz.
Microsoft’s Cortana is the company’s answer to their Apple counterpart، Siri. Although released later than Siri، Cortana proves to be a superior voice-assistant as it is able to provide notifications and updates available where applicable while giving the user of set reminders، appointments، answering queries and filtering most recommended answers، while providing directions to various destinations، while Siri is limited to some of the said features، with notification and update reminder feature being absent.
