The commemorative coin designed by Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) to mark the 50th year since the establishment of the Maldives as a republic, has been made available for purchase.
The commemorative coin was officially inaugurated during the ceremony held on July 26 as part of the celebrations of Independence Day. by President Abdulla Yameen. The coin is available for purchase at the rate of MVR 1,500.
The coin, with a face value of MVR 150, is made of silver and plated with gold. With 925 ounces of silver, it bears a total weight of 28.28 grams, and has a diameter of 38.61 mm.
On its surface, the coin carries the logo of the 'Republic 50' designed in celebration of the 50th year of the Maldives' Republic, while its flip surface carries the national emblem.
