President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, on Wednesday, inaugurated the international airport at Noonu Atoll Maafaru island.
During the ceremony to inaugurate the Abu Dhabi funded airport, President Yameen unveiled the monument placed to inaugurate the island’s airport and harbour.
The Maafaru airport is set to feature a transit hotel, resort and can accommodate 6 jets simultaneously.
President Yameen had earlier stated the airport worth USD60 million was a donation to the Maldives by the United Arab Emirates.
