Fenaka to deploy 2,200 kW of new generators to four islands

Fenaka Corporation Limited has imported new generator sets for four islands as part of its efforts to strengthen reliable and sustainable electricity services nationwide.
The generators, with a combined capacity of 2,200 kilowatts, will be installed in Isdhoo and Dhanbidhoo, Kendhoo, and Kelaa.
According to Fenaka, a 600 kW generator has been allocated to Isdhoo, 400 kW to Dhanbidhoo, and 600 kW each to Kendhoo and Kelaa.
The deployment process is already underway. Generator sets for Dhanbidhoo and Isdhoo are scheduled for delivery early Monday, 23 February. Meanwhile, the generators designated for Kendhoo and Kelaa are currently in Malé undergoing customs clearance and are expected to be shipped to the islands within 48 hours.
The recipient islands have been experiencing frequent power outages, meter malfunctions and technical losses, affecting households and businesses. The disruptions have been particularly challenging during the holy month of Ramadan, when electricity demand increases significantly.
Fenaka stated that the new generator sets are expected to directly address these issues and improve service reliability. The corporation reaffirmed its commitment to delivering dependable and sustainable electricity services to communities across the Maldives.
