The HA. Ihavandhoo Island Council has opened applications for the long-term lease of land designated for fish processing and other fisheries-related activities.
In an announcement issued on Sunday, the council stated that the initiative aims to further strengthen and expand the fishing industry on the island.
Details of the Land Allocation
According to the council, four plots of land will be allocated from the area designated for industrial use under Ihavandhoo’s Land Use Plan. Each plot measures 3,000 square feet and will be leased for a period of 20 years.

Interested parties are required to register prior to submitting proposals. Registration must be completed through the online form provided by the council. The deadline for registration is 23:59 on February 8, 2026. The council emphasized that proposals will only be accepted from applicants who complete the registration process.
Eligibility and Submission Deadline
Proposals may be submitted by companies, partnerships, local investors, and registered sole proprietorships. Submission of proposals will take place at the Ihavandhoo Council Secretariat at 13:00 on Monday, February 16, 2026.
