Applications open for Binveriyaa land plots in Rasmale’

The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has announced that applications for land plots under the Binveriyaa Scheme are now open.
The application window will remain open until 30 April, offering a one-month period for eligible Maldivians to submit their applications.
According to the announcement gazetted earlier this year, this phase of the scheme offers 1,250-square-foot land plots within the Rasmale’ development project. The allocation is primarily targeted at two categories: individuals who previously acquired land through a joint application process, and those who were earlier deemed ineligible for the Binveriyaa scheme due to ownership of a flat under another government housing initiative.
Applicants are required to submit their forms electronically via the designated online portal, boahiyaavahikan.housing.gov.mv. The Ministry has also published a detailed list of required supporting documents in the Government Gazette. These include a marriage certificate where applicable, registry documents for any existing land or flat ownership, a declaration of rights, and official proof of long-term residency in Malé, such as indicative residency records confirming residence since birth or the date of initial settlement in the capital.
The Rasmale’ project represents one of the government’s most significant initiatives to address housing challenges nationwide. Large-scale land reclamation is currently under way, with dredging operations taking place across 11 sites.
The project aims to reclaim a total of 1,009 hectares of land, with nearly 500 hectares already dredged to date.
Following the official commencement of the project on 18 December 2023, the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) was contracted in December last year to accelerate development, marking further progress towards establishing the new urban area.
