The Haa Alifu Atoll Council has announced that the Haa Alifu Molhadhoo Council has won first place in the category of Best Performing Island Councils at the “Thilauthuru Award 2025,” part of the Thilauthuru Awards presented by the Atoll Council. The award ceremony was held last night in Dhidhdhoo, the capital of Haa Alifu Atoll. In the category of Best Performing Island Councils at the “Thilauthuru Award 2025,” Molhadhoo Island Council secured first place, while Baarah Council took second place. Ihavandhoo Council was awarded third place. The awards were presented to the councils by the Guest of Honor of the ceremony, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom. The awards were accepted on behalf of the councils by their respective presidents. This year’s awards were presented across six different categories. The Thilauthuru Award is presented by the Haa Alifu Atoll Council to recognize and appreciate individuals who have provided valuable services to the atoll in various fields, as well as those who have made notable contributions in different professions. It also honors students from the atoll’s schools and educational institutions who have achieved prestigious ranks, the most service-oriented resort in the atoll, the best performing island councils, the Women’s Development Committees, and the work of clubs and associations.
