IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mumbai Due to Engine Issue

An IndiGo Airlines flight travelling from New Delhi to Goa was forced to make an emergency landing at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on the night of July 16 due to a technical issue with one of its engines.
Flight 6E 6271, operated by an Airbus A320, safely landed in Mumbai at 9:52 PM after declaring a "Pan-Pan" code to Air Traffic Control, signalling an urgent situation without immediate danger to life or the aircraft. The emergency was triggered when one engine failed mid-flight.
IndiGo released a statement confirming the aircraft was diverted as a precautionary measure following standard procedures. The airline apologized for the inconvenience to passengers and arranged for an alternate aircraft to complete the journey to Goa.
The flight carried 191 passengers and crew, all of whom were reported safe. Maintenance work on the affected aircraft has since begun.
This incident adds to recent concerns over increased engine-related issues affecting IndiGo’s A320 fleet, particularly those equipped with Pratt & Whitney engines, which have led to several aircraft groundings.
