MDP and Adhaalath Party has been invited a second time to the government led all-party discussions.
President’s Office said today that the two political parties were re-invited after they responded that there is no neutral environment for discussions.
The President’s Office said that the invitations were resent because the purpose of the talks is to work towards the benefit of the people.
High ranking officials have not been responding to their phones to make a comment on the situation.
Sources say that MDP and Adhaalath have sent a letter to the President’s Office rejecting the invitation to take part in the talks.
The government has invited a total of six political parties to the discussions that begins tonight. They are PPM, Jumhooree Party (JP), MDA, DRP, MDP and Adhaalath Party.
Representing the governing party, PPM is the Vice President of the Party and MP for Fonadhoo constituency, Abdul Raheem Abdulla and the Leader of the PPM Parliamentary Group and MP for the Vili-Malé constituency, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik.
JP has named their Leader and MP for Maamigili constituency, Qasim Ibrahim and the Deputy Leader of the JP Parliamentary Group, MP for Kinbidhoo constituency, Abdulla Riyaz.
Fisheries Minister, Dr. Mohamed Shainee and Defence Minister, Adam Shareef Umar and the Youth Minister, Ahmed Zuhoor has been named to represent the Government in these talks.
The President’s Office said that President Abdulla Yameen hopes that the discussions would be sucessful and bear fruitful results to the people.
