Two arrested with 146 rubber packets of drugs attempted to be smuggled to Milandhoo

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of attempting to smuggle drugs into Sh. Milandhoo.
Maldives Police Service said the suspects were arrested during an operation carried out based on a tip received informing a group of people bound to Milandhoo from Kulhudhuffushi City on a dinghy were attempting to smuggle drugs into the island.
The authority identified the suspects arrested in the case as:
Ahmed Shameer, 37, Dhunbumaage, HDh. Kulhudhuffushi
Ahmed Ismail, 31, Huvafeny Asseyri, HDh. Hulhudhuffushi
Police said the operation was conducted last Wednesday by Milandhoo Police Station in collaboration with Police intelligence.
They detailed that the two suspects were arrested from Milandhoo harbor upon their arrival and subsequently searched, during which 146 rubber packets containing substances believed to be drugs were found on them.
Both suspects have been remanded in custody for 15 days, the Police added.
The case is under further investigation by the Police.
