The Maldives Immigration Authority has announced that passport issuance services will now be available on Saturdays, a move aimed at improving public convenience and reducing wait times. The new service schedule takes effect immediately, following directives from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
Controller General of Immigration, Mohamed Shamman Waheed, highlighted that the decision is part of broader efforts to streamline operations and better accommodate public demand.
While emergency passport services for medical cases will continue to be available 24/7, the addition of Saturday services provides greater flexibility for the general public.
Saturday passport services will be available at the Immigration Office in Malé City and at two offices in Hulhumalé Phase 2. Tokens for passport processing will be issued from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., ensuring an organized and efficient experience for applicants.
