A symbolic tree-planting ceremony was held on Wednesday at Sultan Park in Malé, as part of the ongoing state visit to the Maldives by Anura Kumara Disanayaka, President of Sri Lanka.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu joined President Disanayaka at the ceremony, highlighting the strong diplomatic ties and close partnership between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
During the ceremony, President Disanayaka planted a Tanjong tree (Moonimaa) under the Maldives’ ‘Five Million Trees Planting Programme’.
The gesture served as a symbol of goodwill between the two nations and reaffirmed their shared commitment to environmental sustainability.
President Disanayaka is scheduled to conclude his three-day visit to the island nation later Wednesday.
