Foreign Minister DunyaMaumoon has retaliated against the statements made by Canadian Foreign Minister regarding Maldives status at Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) Agenda.
Minister Dunya retaliated to the statement released by Minister Rob Nicolson on the 15th of this month. She stated that Canada was not exempt from upholding democratic principles. Minister Dunya stated Canada was guilty of human rights breaches against the original settlers of Canada and as such, those human rights breaches also must be investigated.
Dunya said that Maldives respects bilateral ties with other nations and that it was not only Maldives who had to respect human rights and international principles. She also called on Canada to prioritize on constructive criticism towards Maldives.
