Health Minister Irthisham Adam has stated that any life style that was detrimental to one’s well being was not “cool”.
She made the statement speaking in the closing ceremony of the “I Choose Life” campaign held Friday evening in Artificial Beach.
Irthisham said that smoking had an economic cost, caused by purchasing and treatment for related illnesses. She added that this is exacerbated by lack of exercise and proper food intake.
Minister said that the anti-tobacco laws will be strengthened to discourage smokers from pursuing the habit. She also said that President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom was currently drawing up a Board which will pioneer anti-tobacco activities in the country.
Minister Irthisham appealed all to work in unison to resolve the tobacco issues.
