Nasheed’s leave extended for operation: President Yameen

President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has revealed the medical leave granted to former President Mohamed Nasheed had been extended and that the leave was granted to facilitate a surgical operation.
He made the statement speaking in the ceremony held this evening in Gaaf Alif Gemanafushi, adding that the decision was undertaken after it was revealed that Nasheed was scheduled to undergo surgery on the 19th of this month.
“I wish an early recovery for Nasheed. I have urge him to return back post-surgery and function as a responsible, accountable member of the opposition,” he said.
“They are now saying the judges of this nation are not qualified, they are saying the doctors here are not qualified. Therefore, I have to be responsible for every loss,” he said.
President Yameen added that MDP senior members can only serve the nation while in the nation, noting that they are all on a self-imposed exile.
“All the generals are abroad. Foot soldiers are on the war. There are no commanders, no one to guide them,” he said.
President Yameen added that allowing criminals to attend the political talks was a direct endorsement of their actions, noting that could not be facilitated. He also stressed the rule of law had to be implemented and that the judicial justice system had to be upheld.
