President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom is set to conduct an official visit to China this week، to attend the China-South Asia Exposition، and Kunming Import & Export Fair to be held at Kunming، Yunan Province.
Leading the delegation، President Yameen will address during the two functions.
President Yameen will depart on this Thursday، along with First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim and other cabinet ministers.
This is the second time President Yameen is conducting a visit to China after being elected as the President. He conducted an official visit، on an invitation by President Xi Jinping، in September 2014، and also another visit to for the opening of Youth Olympic Games held at Nanjing Province.
 
Chinese President Mr. Xi Jinping visited Maldives last year، the first ever Chinese President to visit Maldives.
The official visits of the counterparts had underscored the strengthening bonds between the two countries.
President Yameen is set to conduct another visit while many projects، aided by China have started in the Maldives، strengthening the ties between the countries further. Maldives had also welcomed and participated in 21st Maritime Silk Route proposed by China.
